Our Palm Springs Yoga Instructors Profiles

Hi, I’m Janet

Teaching yoga is a dream come true for me. It was shortly after moving to Palm Springs that I realized that I wanted to teach yoga. I enjoyed the yoga classes offered in Palm Springs, but realized something was missing for me.

I had the opportunity to move briefly out of Palm Springs to San Diego in order to attend a yoga teacher training program. The power yoga teacher training program gave me the experience I needed to guide others in the beautiful practice of yoga. I moved back a soon as I completed the program and started teaching yoga in the park in Palm Springs.

I soon found a yoga studio near Palm Springs and added two additional classes to my yoga class offering. The yoga students taking class with me encouraged me to offer more yoga classes. In order to teach more yoga classes I needed to open my own yoga studio in Palm Springs. In June of 2010 I realized another dream. my partner, Julian and I opened Power Yoga Palm Springs on the north end of Palm Springs. Every day new yoga students discover Power Yoga Palm Springs.

Since then, we have opened our current yoga studio in downtown Palm Springs. We have also added a Spin studio and Massage studio.

Yoga transformed my life here in Palm Springs. I feel honored to be able to share the gifts of a regular yoga practice with others. Please discover for your self the transformational effects of power yoga for yourself.

Hi, I’m Michael

Michael grew his roots in New England, in the suburbs of Boston Massachusetts, soaking up all the beauty, and life the northeast had to offer. “You couldn’t pay me to stay indoors”,

He spent his youth playing every team sport that was offered, he discovered a deep love for the outdoors, camping/hiking extensively all over the northeast throughout the year in any kind of weather. With a fondness for friendship, family, music, gatherings, peace, and philosophy, he extended his branches through 2 years of college in Connecticut, and 2 more in New Hampshire, focusing on sociology, and psychology. “Looking back I’ve been a yogi my whole life, I just didn’t realize it”.

He took his first yoga class in 2015, “I said to my new friend on the ride home after my first class that I wanted to thank her for introducing me to something that will probably be a part of my life forever”. 3 years later she is my BEST friend, I practice yoga everyday, and I’ve received my teaching certificate.

Whether it’s a deep calming spiritual practice, or an energized Boston style workout, Michael’s classes encourage us all to sink those roots, grow our branches, and let our souls blossom!

Hi, I’m Jenn

Jenn began her Yoga journey more than 10 years ago. Jenn says, “I immediately noticed a difference not only in my body, but in my mind as well. It became very important to share what I knew with others!”

Besides practicing yoga, Jenn keeps busy performing Feng Shui consultations, writing a weekly column for CV Weekly, and is a substitute teacher in elementary schools. When asked what yoga means to her, “With all the chaos in our lives, it’s so great to have a practice that balances us out. It’s wonderful to have my mind, body and soul united as one. Yoga does that for me.”

Through all the changes that have taken place in her life, yoga has been the only constant!

Jenn is dedicated to her practice and grateful to have the opportunity to guide others on their yoga journey.

“Join me at Power Yoga Palm Springs. I am so excited to practice with you!”

She has taken several yoga teacher courses, most recently the 200-hour certification through Power Yoga Palm Springs.

Hi, I’m Lorraine

Lorraine is a Coachella Valley native and began practicing yoga in 2003 while attending San Francisco State University. During this time, Lorraine suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. With therapy and a regular yoga practice she was able to manage her anxiety and get through school. After graduating in 2006, Lorraine decided to hang her Art degree on the wall and pursue her true passion: yoga.

Lorraine earned her yoga teacher certification in 2007 and began teaching yoga right here in our desert. She continued to teach in studios all over California then took her teaching skills all over the world including Singapore, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Now she is back in her home town and just as passionate about yoga as she was when she began. Lorraine has challenged her yoga practice over the years by participating in the Singapore Yoga Asana Championship in 2011 where she placed 4th. Also in 2015, she placed 2nd in California and 11th in the nation at the USA Yoga Asana Championships. Lorraine is excited to share her knowledge and experience with our community.

Hi, I’m Jason

Anative San Diegan, Jason has been a desert dweller for the last 8 years.

Prior to discovering the strength, peacefulness and clarity that practicing yoga has provided he focused mainly on Pilates. After feeling unmotivated by what a traditional gym had to offer Jason felt energized by the variety available in Pilates classes.

Later he was introduced to yoga by his friend and fellow instructor, Amanda Walker. Like Pilates, yoga has offered an engaging and strengthening practice and also a equally important mind-body connection.

In November of 2013, Jason completed his 200-hour Yoga Alliance approved yoga teacher training course at Power Yoga Palm Springs and is looking forward to helping others unlock their potential through yoga.

Hi, I’m Ricky

I‘m 41 years old and yoga is my passion. Born and raised in Va. After moving to Laguna Beach in 2001 a friend suggested we take a yoga class together. My response was ” I’m not flexible and I can’t sit still for that long” we laughed and shortly after that I began my practice. The instructor simply explained to me ” if you can move and breath at the same time, you can do yoga”. I beat an practicing the Bikram series on a regular basis.

I am a strong believer that the power of yoga lies in its ability to heal its practitioners and unlock the therapeutic energies within. I am a true method teacher whose dedication to my my own personal practice has healed me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I enjoy pairing music to the yoga sequence. In the yoga room I focus on breath work, alignment, strength and grace creates a therapeutic moving meditation. To me yoga is holistic therapy. The PowerYoga series heals and strengthens the physical body, the mind, and the spirit. I teach so I can share that strength and healing with others.

I recently received my 200-hour training certification at Power Yoga Palm Springs.
I teach classes in Power Yoga and Hot Vinyasa Flow.

Hi, I’m Daniel

For me teaching Yoga is to share the practice that has been the catalyst for change and growth in my life.

My Yoga practice has reawakened my younger-self, not only physically but creatively, mentally and spirituality.

One of the most awesome things about Yoga is that it is accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability or strength. You do not have to be athletic, you don’t have to be spiritual, you do not have to be coordinated. You don’t even have to be flexible.

Yoga is the path to developing all of these traits and so many more. The first step is just showing up!

I invite you to join me on my journey and in doing so, I will join yours.

“Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

Hi, I’m Ashley

It is said we should do what we love, well yoga is what I love to do!
I’m a midwestern native and was introduced to my very first vinyasa flow class in 2012. A few short weeks later I started my 200-hour teacher training, with a burning desire to understand everything there is to know about this ancient healing modality.
I will forever be a student and will never stop learning and training.
What I love most about yoga is that it can be practiced by anyone, anytime, anywhere, no matter your age, or physical ability. This moving meditation is inclusive to everyone, there are no judgements on the mat.
My goal now as a yoga instructor is to share the knowledge, and light that has been shared with me.
My classes are designed to give yogi’s an opportunity to turn off their mind chatter, and get into their hearts.
I truly believe that yoga has the power to heal the world physically, and emotionally no matter how deep the scars. You just have to be open to receiving the benefits.

Hi, I’m Michele

Istarted my Yoga journey about ten years ago, just playing at Yoga by taking a class here and there. Power Yoga Palm Springs offered a 3-week Yoga Boot Camp about 9 years ago that transformed my life turning Yoga into a powerful exercise routine.

As I became stronger and more flexible, I began to look at Yoga as my “fountain of youth”. For the first time I developed a better understanding of my body and its capabilities.

I recently completed the 200-hour Power Yoga Teach training here at PYPS. It was an incredible experience where I gained so much more than I ever anticipated.

I look forward to continuing my education in other Yoga practices as well as its ancient history and teachings.

My goal is to be able to assist older people or those recovering from an accident or illness in regaining their strength and flexibility.

In my non-Yoga life, my husband and I operate an advertising agency here in Palm Springs. We are two sides of a brain – he the creative and I the financial – which tends to work well in business.

In my free time I am active serving on the organizing committee for the annual fundraising gala of the American Cancer Society, Desert Spirit.

Hi, I’m Nicole

Nicole is a wife, mother, yogi, healer, inclusionist and diversity activist. She is a Washingtonian by birth and a Californian at heart. After completing her education at UC Berkeley in 2014, she began the process of integrating her education of healing trauma with her personal yoga practice.

Nicole has practiced yoga for over 10 years and her practice continues to transform her life in unexpected ways. Her practice began as a form of exercise that quickly morphed into a healing process that allowed her to safely get into her body after years of disconnecting from it as a result of past traumas. Yoga empowered her to access and trust her body in new ways and finally to fall in love with her body. This kind of healing and empowerment is what she hopes to share with her students when guiding them through their own journey with yoga.
Nicole is a certified 200 hour RYT Power Yoga instructor as well as a certified Hot Yoga instructor.

In addition to the powerful practices Nicole teaches, she is a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor and is committed to offering yoga practices that are sensitive to and cognizant of the traumas that are held in the body. She offers trauma-informed classes to all who feel this practice could benefit them. She is passionate about providing affordable and accessible yoga classes to at risk youth and underserved communities.

Nicole is a diversity activist and a member of the Yoga and Body Image Coalition, a grassroots organization whose mission is to develop and support body love through accessible, body positive and diverse yoga practices.

She and her husband, Thane, live in Palm Springs, CA and have the pleasure of raising their spirited baby girl, Bodhi.
