Palm Springs Yoga Instructors
Kim Funkey, owner of Power Yoga, was born and raised in Palm Springs. After moving away for a couple years and being drawn back to the desert to help open her family’s restaurant she quickly became attached to yoga.
Purchasing this studio in 2018 is her dream come true! Kim is dedicated to helping others through yoga and feels thrilled to build this beautiful yoga community in Palm Springs.
She is a volunteer yoga instructor with the United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire, and joins them at the Boys and Girls Club after school program for an hour yoga class and the Vice President of Young Variety the Children’s Charity of the Desert, where she uses yoga as a tool to help these children grow and gain confidence.
Kim is dedicated to helping others connect to their breathe and to let go of the challenges this world can bring, while enjoying a powerful flow that awakens all the muscles. She has a creative and loving vibe that she brings to her classes and looks forward to the continuing her yoga teaching journey through out the Coachella Valley!
Dawn Caldwell was born in Wyoming and has also lived in Utah, Nevada, and recently has found her home in the California Desert. She comes from 8 years of a retail and HR background. She left the corporate world to become a stay at home Mom to her two beautiful daughters Annaleigh and Andie Grace. Being in a new town with her two daughters and her husband, she found herself constantly searching to better herself and through Yoga she has been able to find the balance and center in her life she has always wanted.
Tiffany grew up here in the desert and has raised her 4 children here with her husband. Though she had practiced yoga a bit before at home over the years, it wasn’t until after the birth of her 3rd child in 2010 she took her first studio class at Power Yoga. Loving what it did for her body and mind, an inner light was lit and she began practicing regularly. After the birth of her 4th child, she was met with some emotionally difficult times in life. She stopped practicing, let depression set in, and soon found herself 80 pounds overweight. After pushing through some very difficult times, she became determined to get her health back and turned once again to yoga. In 6 months, the 80 pounds was gone, and her inner light began to grow brighter than ever. Grateful for the peace yoga brought to her hectic, high stress life she continued to practice regularly and soak in all the healing that yoga provides. After 20 years in the service industry and ready for change, she decided to pursue her teacher training and completed her 200 hour certification with Power Yoga in the beginning of 2019. She believes that yoga truly heals from the inside out and ignites a light within, and can’t wait to share it with others.

Meg started doing yoga as a way of pain relief from her back aches more than a decade ago. After 10 years of yoga practice and seeing the benefits that it has given her physically, mentally and spiritually she wanted to dive deeper and learn to teach and share yoga with others. She earned her 200 hr yoga alliance certification through Power yoga Palm Springs. She now applies those same benefits she received from yoga to her students in her teachings. She facilitates a safe open space for yogis to have a healthy meditative flow. Her teaching style is calming, creative, and organic. She guides her students to stay grounded, well balanced and aware of their breath. She likes to give detailed cues and offers hands on adjustments.
She believes that you can heal yourself. Any concepts that are applied to yoga are the same concepts that can be applied to life. Always challenging yourself in life, pushing your edge to make breakthroughs but knowing your boundaries.
Annie Flores started her path in health and wellness 10 years ago in massage and bodywork healing. Her fascination in Mind Body Spirit connection lead her to yoga. Annie is also a well- known DJ in the Coachella Valley and found that yoga provided balance and peace to her hectic lifestyle. She decided to deepen her practice and became a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher in 2018. Since then, Annie continues to get stronger and loves the growth that develops through teaching and practicing daily. “With Power Yoga comes the Vinyasa flow and that’s what I enjoy over other types of yoga that I’ve experienced. I’m excited for this new journey in my life, not only growing in my practice as a yoga student but as adding new skills to my teaching abilities. Yoga isn’t just for balance now it’s beyond that, a much deeper connection that I’ve found and that I’ll continue to find.” –Annie Flores
Rocki Lundquist is a RYT 200 with a sincere passion and care towards physical calisthenics and biomechanics. She carries her free-spirited nature and 17 years gymnastics experience into her classes. I started my Yoga journey about ten years ago, just playing at Yoga by taking a class here and there. Power Yoga Palm Springs offered a 3-week Yoga Boot Camp about 9 years ago that transformed my life turning Yoga into a powerful exercise routine.
As I became stronger and more flexible, I began to look at Yoga as my “fountain of youth”. For the first time I developed a better understanding of my body and its capabilities.
I recently completed the 200-hour Power Yoga Teach training here at PYPS. It was an incredible experience where I gained so much more than I ever anticipated.
I look forward to continuing my education in other Yoga practices as well as its ancient history and teachings.
My goal is to be able to assist older people or those recovering from an accident or illness in regaining their strength and flexibility.
In my non-Yoga life, my husband and I operate an advertising agency here in Palm Springs. We are two sides of a brain – he the creative and I the financial – which tends to work well in business.
In my free time I am active serving on the organizing committee for the annual fundraising gala of the American Cancer Society, Desert Spirit.

Nicole is a wife, mother, yogi, healer, inclusionist and diversity activist. She is a Washingtonian by birth and a Californian at heart. After completing her education at UC Berkeley in 2014, she began the process of integrating her education of healing trauma with her personal yoga practice.
Nicole has practiced yoga for over 10 years and her practice continues to transform her life in unexpected ways. Her practice began as a form of exercise that quickly morphed into a healing process that allowed her to safely get into her body after years of disconnecting from it as a result of past traumas. Yoga empowered her to access and trust her body in new ways and finally to fall in love with her body. This kind of healing and empowerment is what she hopes to share with her students when guiding them through their own journey with yoga.
Nicole is a certified 200 hour RYT Power Yoga instructor as well as a certified Hot Yoga instructor.
In addition to the powerful practices Nicole teaches, she is a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor and is committed to offering yoga practices that are sensitive to and cognizant of the traumas that are held in the body. Gabby has been active in sports all her life, but found a calming connection to yoga through her journey at Power Yoga Palm Springs. She believes yoga creates strength and space in the body and especially the mind, and that it teaches invaluable lessons like self-love, acceptance, peace, non-violence, letting go, and connecting to the true inner-self through breath. “Yoga continues to heal my body with flexibility and strength. Every day on the mat surprises me, as I become comfortable in my body, breaking down the barriers in my mind of what I thought I could or could not do.” Gabby loves to share her passion for yoga with others by guiding them through breath and movement on the mat. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Power Yoga Palm Springs in the fall of 2017.
Gabby has been a teacher for over 15 years. She received a Master’s degree in French from California State University Long Beach and currently teaches at the College of the Desert. Michael grew his roots in New England, in the suburbs of Boston Massachusetts, soaking up all the beauty, and life the northeast had to offer. “You couldn’t pay me to stay indoors”,
He spent his youth playing every team sport that was offered, he discovered a deep love for the outdoors, camping/hiking extensively all over the northeast throughout the year in any kind of weather. With a fondness for friendship, family, music, gatherings, peace, and philosophy, he extended his branches through 2 years of college in Connecticut, and 2 more in New Hampshire, focusing on sociology, and psychology. “Looking back I’ve been a yogi my whole life, I just didn’t realize it”.
He took his first yoga class in 2015, “I said to my new friend on the ride home after my first class that I wanted to thank her for introducing me to something that will probably be a part of my life forever”. 3 years later she is my BEST friend, I practice yoga everyday, and I’ve received my teaching certificate.
Whether it’s a deep calming spiritual practice, or an energized Boston style workout, Michael’s classes encourage us all to sink those roots, grow our branches, and let our souls blossom!
Teaching Yoga is to share the practice that has been the catalyst for change and growth in my life.
My Yoga practice has reawakened my younger-self, not only physically but creatively, mentally and spirituality.
One of the most awesome things about Yoga is that it is accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability or strength. You do not have to be athletic, you don’t have to be spiritual, you do not have to be coordinated. You don’t even have to be flexible.
Yoga is the path to developing all of these traits and so many more. The first step is just showing up!
I invite you to join me on my journey and in doing so, I will join yours.
“Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
-St. Francis of Assisi

Our Palm Springs Yoga Instructors Profiles
Hi, I’m Janet
Teaching yoga is a dream come true for me. It was shortly after moving to Palm Springs that I realized that I wanted to teach yoga. I enjoyed the yoga classes offered in Palm Springs, but realized something was missing for me.
I had the opportunity to move briefly out of Palm Springs to San Diego in order to attend a yoga teacher training program. The power yoga teacher training program gave me the experience I needed to guide others in the beautiful practice of yoga. I moved back a soon as I completed the program and started teaching yoga in the park in Palm Springs.
I soon found a yoga studio near Palm Springs and added two additional classes to my yoga class offering. The yoga students taking class with me encouraged me to offer more yoga classes. In order to teach more yoga classes I needed to open my own yoga studio in Palm Springs. In June of 2010 I realized another dream. my partner, Julian and I opened Power Yoga Palm Springs on the north end of Palm Springs. Every day new yoga students discover Power Yoga Palm Springs.
Since then, we have opened our current yoga studio in downtown Palm Springs. We have also added a Spin studio and Massage studio.
Yoga transformed my life here in Palm Springs. I feel honored to be able to share the gifts of a regular yoga practice with others. Please discover for your self the transformational effects of power yoga for yourself.
