Hello Yoga Friends,

Stress is the number one precursor to diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and more.

Yoga breathing techniques such as Ujjayi breathing slow the heart rate, calm the nervous system and quite the fluctuations of the mind.

This tells the body that all is well and the stress response, fight or flight sympathetic nervous system reaction is replaced with the rest and digest response of the parasympathetic nervous system. This simple breathing technique can save or prolong your life.

To do Ujjayi breathing simply seal your lips and breathe slowly through your nose.

  • Create a whisper sound at the back of your throat by tucking your chin slightly.
  • This sound is said to sound like the ocean waves rolling in an out.
  • Close your eyes and even out the flow of your breath and keep the breath continuously flowing.
  • Do this for about five to ten minutes and notice the changes in your body, mind and spirit.
