Hello Yoga Friends,
The yoga push up is done by keeping the elbows close to the body as you lower close your yoga mat.
This is done so that you can easily move into cobra or upward facing dog.
I have observed students dropping their shoulders lower than their elbows which can cause strain on the shoulder joint or not bending the elbows much at all which does not engage the muscles involved in the yoga push up. To build strength and protect the shoulder.
The tip of the week is to keep your elbows in alignment with your shoulders in your chaturanga push up.
