Beginning Yoga

If you're new to yoga, been off the mat for awhile, have a physical injury or limitation, or just want to get back to basics, this it the class for you! Beginning yoga at Power Yoga Palm Springs is gentle, slow paced and offers lots of individual instruction. This yoga class is designed to introduce you to the basics of both the practice and theory of yoga, while creating a safe and comfortable experience for all students. Appropriate for both the beginning and intermediate student.

Flow and Renew

Enjoy the best of both active and relaxing yoga, in one practice! The majority of class is a power yoga class, working active yoga poses and vinyasa sequences. The final portion of class is a restorative practice finding deep & gentle poses. A wonderful way to build heat, strength and then deep surrender to bring balance for your body, your mind and your heart. This class is great for beginners to advanced yogis who are willing to work hard and surrender hard, too.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga places emphasis on building awareness of the breath and the body. Asanas (postures or poses) are practiced at a slower pace with attention to alignment and detail. Recommended for all levels looking for a soothing, relaxing, and restorative yoga experience, especially those newer to yoga or working with special concerns or injuries.

Gentle yoga classes are typically described as appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice. The approach includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures may be approached in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and repetition so that the practice is simple to do and easy to remember. A gentle yoga style encourages a highly individualized approach to practice with ongoing encouragement to make moment-to-moment adjustments.

Hot Vinyasa Flow

Hot Vinyasa Flow is the merging of standing and balancing postures fused with Vinyasa, flowing movement, in a heated room. Hot yoga is based on the belief that performing yoga in a heated room (up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit) can increase flexibility, strength, lung capacity and blood circulation. Heated yoga can also help the body flush out toxins, increase heart rate for a better cardio workout and keep muscles in an optimal state for yoga. All Levels are welcome.

Power Yoga

Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. This type of yoga is taught in a heated studio (82-84 degrees) which makes it a vigorous and revitalizing form of physical fitness. It incorporates strength, flexibility, balance, cardio and physical and mental stamina in one session. Baron Baptiste, the founder of this form of yoga, describes this practice as “the perfect blend of sweat and serenity.”

Accessible to beginners and advanced students. Power Yoga Palm Springs emphasizes breathing to connect the body and mind.

Rocket Yoga

This class is a combination of Power Yoga and Rocket Yoga. Rocket Yoga was created by Larry Schultz in San Francisco and is a dynamic sequence of poses which renews mental focus, improves strength, endurance and flexibility. The Rocket is about community & accessible to all fitness levels. Rocket Yoga is a freestyle interpretation of classical Ashtanga Vinyasa. This class will flow through Sun Salutations, standing poses, arm balancing, seated poses, core drills and backbends. When Larry toured with The Grateful Dead as their private yoga teacher, Bob Wier coined the phrase "It's the Rocket, it gets you there faster!"

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Flow yoga offers students of all levels intelligent sequencing designed to open the body, leading to deeper and more advanced poses as the class progresses. Each class is created around a specific theme, blending strength, balance, flexibility and breath-to-movement sequences.

This Vinyasa Flow class includes traditional standing, seated and supine poses, challenging flows, twisting and balancing sequences, core strengthening, backbends, inversions, restorative postures, and ends in a guided meditation Savasana. Poses are taught with Level 1/2 attention to detail, including use of props and modified postures, and Level 2/3 options for advancing students.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga “is the balancing practice for your yang style of yoga” or “it is yoga for the joints, not the muscles.” Yin Yoga is a more meditative approach with a physical focus much deeper than Yang like practices. Yin Yoga accesses the deeper tissues such as the connective tissue and fascia and many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine).

Yin offers many benefits, calming and balancing to the mind and body, regulates energy in the body, increases physical mobility, especially the joints and hips, lowering of stress levels (no one needs that), greater stamina, better lubrication and protection of joints, helps with TMJ and migraines and creates an appreciation and understanding of Yang practice. Long holds, soft music and use of props allows you to find stillness and heal many areas of the mind and body.

Yoga Sculpt

Yoga Sculpt is a total body workout designed to tone and sculpt every major muscle group. Free weights serve as your own personal adjuster as you move through yoga sun salutations and other yoga postures, enabling extra length and depth in each yoga pose. This intense, but easy to follow yoga program complements your regular yoga practice while pushing your strength and flexibility to new yoga heights at Power Yoga Palm Springs.

Accessible to beginners and advanced students.

60 Minute Face Yoga

Face yoga is a natural way of looking and feeling younger and healthier with an added sense of relaxation and well-being. Just as your body needs regular exercise to stay toned and firm, the 57 muscles in the face and neck also need to be exercised. This class teaches you how to use your own hands to help your face, mind, and spirit look and feel great using simple techniques that can be done anytime, anywhere, any day!
