I want to visit Power Yoga Palm Springs, what do I do?
We can’t wait to practice with you! You can make your account by clicking on the Mindbody schedule on the homepage, or download the mindbody app.
Our classes are structured to include multiple components and have a grander description when you click on the class type but typically the session will include time for pranayama (breath work), mediation, physical warm up, balancing postures, twists, and possibly inversions and backbends.
Every class finishes with savasana, a resting and relaxing pose where all the benefits of the practice settle into the body. Please respect the silence and remain still and quiet, we promise you won’t regret it!
Is Yoga for me?
YES! Yoga is for everyone. Release the thought of not being flexible or strong enough and remember everyone starts somewhere. We encourage you to do what you need to in order to feel comfortable. Let your instructor know if it's your first time practicing and we will be happy to show you some basics and offer modifications and assists to set you up for success.
What should I expect from my first yoga class?
Keep an open mind. Anyone can do yoga. Respect your body. The yoga teacher may give you several options for most yoga postures. Do what feels best to you. Let go of comparison or competition. Yoga is an individual practice. Always honor your needs, if it's rest, water or a towel off, do what you need to at any time. Expect to feel really good.
Do I need to register before attending a class?
Yes, please reserve your space signing up ahead of time. Online registration is available on the website and the mindbody app.
What should I wear/bring to class?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move easily in. Running shorts, leggings, yoga clothes, t-shirt or tank shirt. Whatever feels good to you. We suggest you bring a bottle of water, hand towel and a yoga mat. Don’t have a yoga mat? No problem, you can use one of our yoga mats or purchase one at our studio. Hand towels and water are available for a small charge. Please refrain from wearing perfumes or strongly fragranced lotions.
Should I eat before coming to class?
Yoga is usually done on an empty stomach. A small amount of food 30 minutes before your yoga class starts is acceptable. Wait at least two hours after a large meal attending a yoga class. This will ensure your food is digested before the yoga class begins.
Can I do yoga if I am pregnant?
Yoga can be done during pregnancy. Make sure your doctor gives you permission to practice yoga. Always let your yoga instructor know of your pregnancy ahead of class. Your yoga teacher will give you special instructions and modification to help protect you and your baby during the yoga class.
